Lamorna Cove
This lovely, secluded cove is privately owned and reached by way of a narrow single track lane. The sea rolls in to a boulder-strewn beach protected by a small jetty where fishermen can often be found. A pretty stream runs through the woods and flows beneath the rocks into the sea. In spring, daffodils abound and are still farmed in fields above the woods.
Inland, a feature is the tumble of rocks, known as chippings, quarry waste from the workings which began in 1849 and ceased operations in 1911. Granite from Lamorna was used in building the London Embankment, New Scotland Yard and Portland Breakwater.

The surroundings inspired many artists and authors to make their homes there: Lamorna Birch, Alfred Munnings, Stanhope Forbes, Frank Heath, Laura and Harold Knight, Denys Law and Stanley Gardiner all painted in the valley, while authors Monica Baldwyn, Ithell Colquhoun, Arnold Bennet and Crosbie Garstin were there before the Tangyes began their 'Minack Chronicles'.
There is a large car park (charges), cafe and toilets plus several self-catering cottages, two hotels and a number of B&Bs.

The Wink Pub half way along the road to the cove and a perfect starting point for either the walk to the cove and the coastal path. Or as an alternative cross the road opposite to walk up the hill (a private road so please do not take cars up there and/or park) and then take the inland walk to
Carn Barges and Oliver Land.
